CHAPTER 5: The Book of Characters
February 2012
I’m just beginning the next series, which will become pieces in an illustrated alphabet book. It’s about the characters in our lives — the lovable, wacky, ridiculous, inspiring and memorable people who keep life interesting. I’ll be changing the names (if requested or if necessary) but for now, I’m starting to collect super short stories. So if you have a memorable character in your life, please contribute!
This is the format: [A] is for [Amanda] who ___________.
Or feel free to just tell me a story about him/her, or something this person does that’s particularly outrageous, and I’ll do the rest. The story can also include a favourite thing or activity — like a pair of shoes, a hat, a favourite place to go — which I’ll try to work into the illustration.
To participate: you can email me, post an entry on the Participate page, or post on my facebook page.

About the Project:
The narrative project is collective storytelling. I send out a theme or a spark and then build art pieces from the responses. It is as much about the process of art making, community and collaboration as the finished piece(s). It is about connecting people, sharing experiences and perspectives, and leaving room for the unexpected. It is sometimes funny, heartbreaking, banal, profound, absurd.
